Mike began his professional career at Deloitte Haskins & Sells in 1982 and became a financial planning colleague of Tim Kochis and Linda Fitz when they joined Deloitte in 1985. For the next five years, he provided comprehensive financial planning services to senior corporate executives and other high net worth individuals. He has earned the CPA credential and has extensive experience in complex tax planning for wealthy individuals.

After earning an MBA, Mike led the financial planning practice at an investment management consulting firm in Palo Alto for four years. In 1996, he rejoined Kochis Fitz, becoming a principal of the firm in 1998 and was elected Chair of its Board of Directors in 2007.

Mike has been an instructor in the Personal Financial Planning Program at U.C. Berkeley and in professional continuing education classes for attorneys, CPAs, and financial planners. He co-authored the book, Wealth Management, A Concise Guide to Financial Planning and Investment Management for Wealthy Clients and made major design contributions to iRebal, the leading edge portfolio rebalancing software used by Kochis Fitz and other prominent wealth management firms. Mike has been quoted in the New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, San Jose Mercury News, Financial Times, Research and has appeared on NPR's Marketplace and on local television. In 2007, the San Francisco Business Times ranked him among the top 25 independent Wealth Managers in the Bay Area.

Mike graduated from the University of Arizona in 1982 with a Bachelors degree in Economics and Finance (with Highest Honors). In 1992, he earned a MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley.
